RECENT PROJECTS
IN THE NEWS
Forensic Engineering or Investigative Engineering is generally defined as “the objective investigation of conditions related to material, equipment or construction failures and accidents, including those involving human factors or catastrophic events.” Professional Engineers are often tapped to investigate the cause and conditions from a technical aspect and to apply engineering principles in determining the cause of such failures and accidents.

For many years, CES has been providing investigations of structural failures, construction failures, and offering expert witness testimony when called upon by existing clients or others seeking our assistance. Recently, we have formalized our expertise into a new service offering which we will be more aggressively marketing in the future. A key part of our formalization of forensic services has been our recent joining of the Investigative Engineering Association (I-ENG-A).

I-ENG-A is a national organization focused on assisting its members in providing diverse investigative services to property and casualty insurance companies. I-ENG-A is made up of over one hundred and sixty (160) representative offices providing services in more than one hundred and fifty (150) categories of expertise to the insurance and claims litigation industry across the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. Members firms are independently owned and are often much like CES in that they offer a wide range of consulting services in addition to the forensic investigations. I-ENG-A offers us in depth training so that we can better meet the expectations of the insurance companies, expert training sessions for investigative services, research data and case history reports, and continued support. Being a member of I-ENG-A also allows us to tap into the organizational resources so that we can seek advice from other firms who have had experience in similar cases.

Our Forensic and Investigative Engineering services include the preparation of engineering reports and service as an expert witness in matters of litigation. Some of the services we offer include: Construction Failure Investigations, Structural Analysis Review, Property Damage Investigations, Equipment Testing, Fire/Arson Investigations, Traffic Accident Reconstruction and Expert Witness Testimony.
